BAKAR

My relationship with Bakar began in early 2017 when I saw a good friend of mine Kay Ibrahim retweeted Bakars first music video "Big Dreams" on twitter. I was Intrigued by this Fred Perry wearing, dreadlocked young man spouting 2000's brit indie rock with a dark complexion.

From there I dove in to his Soundcloud as besides Big Dreams he didn't have any other tracks on DSPs. a year later, Bakar released his debut album Badkid to wide critical acclaim and and to some, is still his best album. Capturing lighting in a bottle the way Bakar and producer Zach Nahome did during this time is a rare occurrence in the music industry.

The 1st time in saw him live was ironically at a Fred Perry event in Shoreditch where I took the below collage picture.our paths would continue to cross throughout the next few years including parties, cinema screenings and eventually sharing the stage together at a festival as I was touring with an artist who was performing in the slot before him.

Our connection culminated by ending up in Paris together at Virgil's last Louis Vuitton show. He was talking to Yasin Bey (formally known as Mos Def) when I came over to say hi. After briefly chatting Bakar asked for a picture of the two of them and I then followed up with a Polaroid before continuing to do the rounds of the event.
