CHANPAN, AMANDA WIN, THEINGI & THIHA

This photo is largely thanks to the producer, Amanda Win.

Back in September 2022, whilst on way through a confusing apartment building in Brooklyn, New York, Amanda and I crossed paths. She was waiting for the elevator down the hall and I was wandering through the seemingly never ending hallways to reach my friend Theingi’s apartment. We briefly noticed eachother, being the only people for seemingly miles in the vast, empty vacuum that was the hallways of said building.

Upon finally reaching the desired apartment, I hung out with my friend Theingi & her friend Thiha. Whilst in the middle of interviewing them both for a project, who should walk through the door but Amanda. We had a Spiderman meme moment, pointing at each other out of confusion.

Amanda’s thinking “what the hell is this delivery guy doing in my apartment” (as is her words, I looked like a lost delivery guy) and I’m thinking what are the chances that the girl I saw by the elevator just happens to be Theingi's roommate?

After proper introductions, Amanda reluctantly agreed to be photographed and interviewed for my project. We then as a group went up to their beautiful rooftop offering the most amazing view of the city to take some more videos and photos.

We ended up becoming great friends, keeping in touch and bonding over our shared love for Daft Punk (Discovery is legitametly on of the greatest albums ever made) and vintage novelty t-shirts.

Almost a year later to the date, whilst visiting New York again, Amanda got me involved to help Direct a music video she was producing for her talented friend Grace Dumdaw and her band - Chanpan.

After hearing the track I was sold, fast paced drums/production and mesmerising vocals that vary from whispering to full on screaming about wanting to break shit.
Even more exciting was hearing that it would be shot at the virtual studio with an interactive screen where Amanda had interned over the summer.

After a couple of group calls, corralling the team needed and a treatment being made, we were ready for filming.

A extremely fun day filled with collaboration from young New York Creatives. Moral on set was fairly high with everyone excited to get going. I helped the actors get in the zone of imagination, transporting them in to a digital apocalypse, running on a green-screened treadmill from an unknown threat.

This Polaroid is from towards the end of the shooting day where myself and Juliette made sure to get some group portraits of the talented trio.
